The English wingman has refused to sign a contract extension with the Reds, leading to rumors about his future.

Finally, someone working for Real Madrid spoke about Raheem Sterling. The legendary Zinedine Zidane talked about the English wingman's current situation with Liverpool, revealing that Los Blancos are keeping the player on their radar for a possible transfer. According to Zidane, the team is currently scouting Sterling as they did previously with other talents such as Raphael Varane and Gareth Bale.

"We know who Raheem Sterling is, and of course we are monitoring him as a player. There are very few players in the world who can improve the Real Madrid squad, so it is going to make sense we monitor the progress of the best young players in the world. We monitored Bale for over a year, the same with Isco and also Varane," Zidane stated.

Currently coaching Real Madrid Castilla, Zidane is pointed out as the clear front runner to take Carlo Ancelotti's spot as coach in the upcoming years. Although the team's interest is yet to materialize, "Zizou" explained Real Madrid would take the needed steps to bring Sterling to Madrid if the player can make a difference for them.

"We monitor many of the best young players in Europe, then if we feel they have something to offer Real Madrid we will contact their club and try and make the next step,” Zidane added.

The legendary French player was part of Carlo Ancelotti's crew last season, and some believe he is being groomed by Florentino Perez to take over as Madrid's head coach in the near future.

Recently, Liverpool's coach Brendan Rodgers stated the player would not be moving away from Liverpool next summer, even after Sterling revealed he was "flattered" by Arsenal's interest in his services. The 20-year old rejected a contract extension with the Reds, which would have earned him £100,000-a-week.
