The yellow-and-blue side was on the road after a victory over Rizaspor, when an unknown gunman opened fire against the team's bus, having the driver heavily injured.

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) issued a statement this morning, informing all media that the country's league and Cup matches will be suspended for a week due to the attack suffered by Fenerbahce after their game against Rizaspor. According to the league's officers, all games will be postponed for a week, while the teams and players cooperate with the authorities to determine why the team was attacked, also trying to prevent this sort of incidents by taking inmediate action against those who are implicated.

After their 5-1 win over Rizaspor, the team left the stadium and headed to the airport in the city of Trebisonda, when they were attacked by an unknown gunman, who managed to hit the bus driver. The team's directors stated they will not participate in any matches until those responsible are found.

"Our players are not in top shape right now, and we can't force them to play after such a circumstance. We will not play until this case is sorted out," Fenerbahce's director Deniz Tolga revealed.

Cameroonian striker Pierre Webo talked about the attack during an interview with a Spanish radio station.

"We noticed some strange noises from the outside, and then we heard the sound of bullets hitting the bus. We dropped our mobile phones and put our head between our knees, because the vehicle was not being controlled due to the driver being hurt. If the team's assistant and one of the bodyguards hadn't reacted on time, we could have been involved in a tragedy. The bus was drifting towards the sea, it was a very scary moment," Webó narrated.
