The referee did nothing to sanction the action but the disciplinary committee will look into it.

The game was almost over, but as Tijuana’s Juan Arango walked past Luis Zavala from Monterrey, he bit him and the referee did not see it. When the game ended a few seconds later, Arango ran away and Zavala tried to explain what happened.

He showed the referee the mark that Arango had left on his skin and still Oscar Macias Romo did not sanction the play. The Disciplinary Committee will most likely judge it on Monday and Arango could receive a long suspension.

The game ended 4-3 in favor of Monterrey, but they were not happy with what Arango had done to their teammate. Fans immediately compared the play to what Luis Suarez had done to Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.

Monterrey’s manager Antonio Mohammed did not argue too long with the referee, but did not limit his players from sorting things out with the officials. After the game “El Turco” was glad they won even if that involved defeating his former team.

Now Monterrey won its second game in a row, but Tijuana is still the leader pf the competition with 23 points followed by Veracruz. There are only five games left in the regular season of the LIGA MX, and most likely Arango may miss them all.
