James Rodriguez is back as a starter for this game. The last time they met, Real Madrid won 4-0.

Real Madrid will host Granada in the Santiago Bernabeu this Sunday. Los Merengues must win if they want to keep up in the race for the title with Barcelona. Granada is currently in second to last place in the competition.

The best news for the home side that has not found much to cheer about lately is the return of James Rodriguez. The Colombian star that suffered an injury in his right foot against Sevilla will be starting the game 60 days later.  Rodriguez can make a difference; he has scored 12 goals in 33 games with Madrid.

Pepe will miss the game due to a muscular problem suffered in the game against Barcelona. Isco is suspended for this game due to an accumulation of yellow cards. Carlo Ancelotti did simply not call up Dani Carvajal and Sami Khedira.

Granada wants to take advantage of Real Madird’s morale that was badly hurt after losing against Barcelona in El Clasico 2-1. A loss that made them fall four points behind with ten games to go and 30 points up for grabs.

Statistics are clearly against the visiting team. Granada has only won four games all season and can’t find the way to get out of the relegation zone. In all 28 games played this season, they have only scored 18 times.

Colombian Jeison Murillo is important in the Andalusia’s team system, but he is in doubt for the game after an injury suffered playing for his national team. For Abel Resino (Granda’s manager), there is still a chance to change the current situation and what a better place to do it than in Real Madrid’s home.

In its last six games, the home side has a 2-1-3 record. The visiting team has a 1-2-3 record in the same span.

The last time these two teams faced off, Real Madrid won 4-0. Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo each scored once and Rodriguez twice that same night.
