One of The Netherlands' most talented players could be joining the Major League Soccer this summer, after his contract with Hamburger SV expires.

With his contract with SV Hamburger almost coming to an end, Dutch playmaker Rafael Van der Vaart spoke about his future, in which he would be willing to play in the Western Hemisphere. Furthermore, the former Real Madrid player spoke about joining the MLS once this season comes to a close, with Sporting Kansas City being his preferred destination.

"As of now, I'm keeping my options open, but I would see myself playing in America. I want to keep playing at a good level for a few years. No matter how the season ends, it was clear that I would not prolong. HSV is and always will be my club, I hope that I'll be able to return in a few years," Van der Vaart stated.

The 32-year old Dutch player made his way into some of the best leagues in the world, playing for Ajax, Hamburger, Real Madrid and Tottenham. He also participated in the 2006 and 2010 World Cups with the Netherlands, reaching the final game against Spain in the tournament held in South Africa.

Meanwhile, Sporting Kansas City's CEO Robb Heineman revealed last month that he held "productive" talks with the player and his agent, but they still had to be cautious on that matter. Back in March, Heineman tweeted there's still nothing to communicate to their fans, even if they have continued negotiations with the Dutch player.
