The Portuguese player revealed he would love to play for Manchester United, if he was given the chance to sign with them.

Fabio Coentrao's future with Real Madrid is quite uncertain, after a series of statements the Portuguese left-back made to one of his country's newspapers. Coentrao stated he would be keen on moving away from Los Blancos in order to play for Manchester United, one of the clubs he has been heavily linked to in the past years.

"I have already shown an interest in playing there. It is one of the best clubs in the world, a club I admire a lot. It would be an honour to play there," Coentrao told Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.

Real Madrid's Number 5 came close to joining Manchester United before the start of the 2013-2014 season, but was stranded with Los Blancos after some paperwork issues that complicated his move to Old Trafford.

Regarding his current situation with the Champions League holders, Coentrao revealed he would like to be more important for the team, but coach Carlo Ancelotti still doesn't trust him as a regular starter.

"I hope to have more minutes at Real Madrid and that the coach relies on me more, something that has not happened up to now," the Portuguese defender added.

Coentrao's contract with Real Madrid ends in 2019, so the possibility of playing for Louis Van Gaal's side would only happen if the Red Devils pay the player's €30 million buyout clause.
