Colombia will continue their preparations for the Copa America with a trip to the middle east where they face Bahrain in an international stadium. Inspired by a phenomenal World Cup campaign, Jose Pekerman's men will be raring to show why they are one of the best teams in the world right now.
Following their impressive World Cup campaign a number of stars from the Colombian national team sealed moves to some of the top European clubs in the world. This included the likes of James Rodriguez, David Ospina and Juan Cuadrado who secured transfers to Real Madrid, Arsenal and Chelsea respectively.
Radamel Falcao who was arguably the nation's biggest star prior to the World Cup also found a new club in the form of Manchester United, but unfortunately for him he has failed to find his feet yet and has been struggling for game time.
His national team manager has offered him his support and has insisted that he will help Falcao in getting out of this difficult situation.
"It's a huge problem that we need to resolve; this problem is as large as the sadness that Falcao is going through right now," he said.
"I feel I need to support him because I understand how hard it is for him and the difficult moment he is experiencing. I want to work with him again and help him restore his confidence."
"I know Falcao's strengths, his mentality and his fighting spirit and I've never doubted that he’ll come out the other side. He's in a bad moment, but he's looking after himself and this week is going to be very important for him."
Pekerman has also refused to put any blame on Dutch tactician Van Gaal but maintains that he is on Falcao's side.
"Without being there you can't really comment about these matters," he added.
"In terms of decisions taken regarding coaching methods, players the manager chooses or in which team a player plays for, I don't think I should comment on that.
"I’m on Falcao's side because I know that he's suffering and he deserves the opportunity to work better and to have his chance to show that he's okay. But it's not my job to judge the decisions of another coach."
Bahrain on the other hand will enter the field for the first time since being knocked out of the Asian Cup back in January. Marjan Eid's men suffered defeats at the hands of Iran and UAE which resulted in them finishing third in Pool C.
Bahrain will have a difficult time containing the Colombian attack but must also be vary of their resilient defence which has been breached just twice in their last five matches.
