He is the only player called for a first time. The team will play Lithuania at Wembley and travel to Torino for a game against Italy.

Just as it was expected, Harry Kane, a back-to-back Barclays Premier League Player of the Month got his first call-up to represent England. His 26 goals so far this season (all competitions) convinced Roy Hodgson to give the Tottenham striker a much-anticipated opportunity with the Three Lions.

The 21-year-old player is currently the best English striker in the Premier League. Among the 24-man-group Hodgson listed, Kane is the only one who has not played with England’s national team so far.

“He’s been fantastic since he broke into the Spurs team and it would be more of a surprise if he'd not been selected,” Hodgson said to Sky Sports HQ.

Kane expressed his excitement on Twitter

The manager did not assume that Kane would be a starter in any of the games he has been selected for. He also recalls having worked with Kane in the U21s around a year ago.

“He deserves his chance and I’m delighted to welcome his to the fold and help establish him,” Hodgson said.

The team will play Lithuania on March 27 at Wembley Stadium in the European Qualifying. Then they will travel for a friendly match with Italy at the Juventus Stadium in Torino, Italy. That game is scheduled for March 31.

The Spurs official website interviewed Kane the moment they knew about the news

England has won six games after a disastrous World Cup where they didn’t even make it past the group stage. That was the reason for calling mostly familiar faces to the team.

Among the list Hodgson gave out this Thursday, Daniel Sturridge makes a comeback after his recent injury. Joe Hart, Gary Kahill, Kieran Gibbs, Theo Walcott and Wayne Rooney are among other big names on the list.
