Lionel Messi presented a new pair of cleats prior to El Clasico against Real Madrid on Sunday. These ones are inspired by his life as a little boy in Rosario, Argentina.

“Pibe de Barr10” is the name of this new shoe. Messi worked alongside ADIDAS and Ignacio Valenti, an artist who was born in the same district as La Pulga. The translation to Spanish of the name is  “Neighborhood boy.”

"Pibe de Barr10 have a lot to do with my life, my childhood and a lot to do with me,” Messi said.

Messi did not stay too long in Argentina. At age 11 he had sparked interest from River Plate, but they were not willing to pay for his medical bills for a growth hormone deficiency. It was Barcelona who at that time took a shot the young talent.

“I did leave Rosario when I was young, but I still have my people, my neighborhood, and my favorite spots,” La Pulga said.
