The Real Madrid defender has asked for the fans and the club to appreciate what the Portuguese ace brings to the team, despite his poor form.

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has sent out a message to the Blancos faithful in support of team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo, asking for the fans to “appreciate” the Portuguese ace regardless of his poor form.

According to the Spaniard, there are no worries among the team over Ronaldo's current dry spell, but La Furia Roja ace has pleaded for patience with the three-time Ballon d'Or winner as it is difficult being in his shoes.

Speaking to Real Madrid's official website, Ramos said

"It is difficult to be Cristiano and he has been performing at a very high level for a number of years.

"He knows himself better than anyone, he has a very competitive character and we are not worried if he didn't score if Bale subsequently did.

"We have to appreciate what he brings to the team."

Les Merengues, as well as Cristiano, has also been enduring a rough spell, one which has seen them hand top spot in La Liga over to Barcelona, and make the Champions League quarter-final by the skin of their teeth.

Nonetheless, with both titles still up for grabs, Ramos remains hopeful of his side's chances, whilst also showing full backing for manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has come under criticism as of late.

"We must be more united than ever. It was a difficult game following the run of form that we have had and the level of pressure that is placed on Real Madrid, which is more than at any other team. We have to accept that, but I don't think that this is a troubling period.

"There are two months of top level competition left, we have one point less than the leaders and are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, which is a tournament that is exciting us again."

He added: "Ancelotti is doing well. He has gone through a difficult situation but if anyone deserves respect, it is Ancelotti, especially after last season."
