It will be the second time Villa plays in one of baseball's most iconic venues. Over 30,000 people are expected to attend.

David Villa has played in some of the most iconic fields in the world of soccer. This Sunday, with New York City FC, he will play at Yankee Stadium, one of the planet’s most important venues no matter the sport.

“I think it’s fantastic, and an honor to be able to share this home with the New York Yankees,” Villa said.

It is not the first time the Spanish international gets to play at the home of the New York Yankees. In June 2013, Villa played with Spain in a friendly against North Ireland and La Furia won 2-0. He loved how well the field is taken care off.

Some of Villa’s teammates don’t think the stage will be ready. Meanwhile, he maintains a positive attitude towards what can be expected for the game.

“I hear that the grounds crew is going to take care of the field, and that it’ll be brilliant,” the 33-year-old striker said.

Villa recently visited Kaka’s new home at Orlando in their season opener at the Citrus Bowl. With 62,000 spectators, a record-setting crowd witnessed the 1-1 draw between Orland City SC and NYCFC. Something similar is expected in New York.

Organizers originally planned to only open certain sections of the stadium for spectators. With the high demand for tickets to the game between New England and Villas’s team, over 30,000 people are expected to fill Yankee Stadium.

“We’re facing this game with excitement. It’s going to be a big party for the city, a big party for the club,” Villa said, who scored the first goal in the franchise history.
