The three-time World Cup Champion considered Messi as the best for a long time. Neymar could join their battle soon according to Pele.

The Brazilian star Pele chimed in once again on who he considers to be the best footballer in the world right now. After having considered Lionel Messi as the best one for many years, he now sides with Cristiano Ronaldo.

In an interview with the L’Uomo Vogue, the former star with the Verde-Amerela agreed with who FIFA chose as the best player of 2014. Despite only scoring nine goals since the year started, Pele has faith in Cristiano's skills.

“Now, after several years of Messi dominance, the best is Cristiano,” Pele claimed.

This year the stats favor the Argentine star that has scored seventeen goals in 16 games. A stat that has helped Barcelona claim the top spot in La Liga while Real Madrid continues to fall.

While the world will continue to forever question who is better between Messi and Ronaldo, during his time, Pele was involved in a similar situation. He is usually compared with Diego Armando Maradona.

Pele foresees another Brazilian making it to the top of the charts in the soccer world in a near future. He believes that Neymar Jr. is getting close to joining the conversation between Ronaldo and Messi.
