The Brazilian defender could not reach an agreement to extend his contract with Barcelona, so he will be joining Les Parisiens on a three year deal.

Dani Alves will put an end to his seven year stint with Barcelona. According to Spanish media, the Brazilian right-back will be leaving Los Blaugranas this summer to join Paris Saint-Germain, where he will reunite with his compatriots David Luiz, Thiago Silva, Maxwell and Marquinhos.

After a series of attempts to extend Alves' commitment with Los Cules, the player apparently used the two-day break coach Luis Enrique gave the team to fly to Paris and sign his new contract with Les Parisiens, where he will be earning 9 million euros per year.

Alves had been linked previously with a number of teams, which included Manchester United, Chelsea and Monaco, but in the end, he decided to pen a three-year agreement with the current Ligue 1 Champions. Recently, the former Sevilla defender shared a photo on his Instagram account, where he was saying good-bye to his Barcelona team-mates.

The player's caption read: "My Brazilian family will go on further than pride. Being a part of this quintet is good for me. If I have to go, I shall do so bravely, with a smile upon my face and joy in my heart. Let's go! I'm trying to be happy, not to be perfect."

With Barcelona's transfer ban running, it is yet unclear whether the club will promote another player from Barcelona B to take Alves' spot, or if the team's officers will give Montoya a chance to earn a place in the team's lineup for good.
