Not everyone was so pleased to see Danny Welbeck succeed...but some took it a bit too far.

Certainly, given that he was oftentimes the subject of memes and trolls, and even bestowed with the moniker "Lord", Danny Welbeck certainly will be used to some pretty harsh criticism from his time at Manchester United.

However, during this past summer's transfer market, the 24-year-old who was part of the Red Devils' set-up since the age of eight, was shipped out by Louis Van Gaal, who felt he had no need to keep the England international at Old Trafford as he sought to make room for Radamel Falcao's arrival from Monaco.

Well, just over halfway through the season and whilst Falcao has struggled to make an impact and to justify his hefty weekly page packet, Welbeck has been in solid form for Arsenal and most recently made Van Gaal eat his words as it was his goal that knocked Manchester United out of yesterday's FA Cup clash.

As a result, the Red Devils unfortunately will not have the chance to win a single piece of silverware whilst the Gunners are still involved in the Champions League - albeit with a lot of work to do against Monaco - and of course, are on track to successfully defend their FA Cup title.

Given that one of their former players knocked them out of the tournament it is understandable that some Manchester United fans will still be seething, especially after Welbeck had no problem with celebrating wildly against them.

Yet there were a few that have taken things a bit too far - even resorting to death threats and racial abuse - via Twitter, which English reports now claim have warranted a police investigation into the matter.
