West Brom was concerned after the game. They pointed out that the safety of players and staff was clearly compromised at the end of the game. The visiting team admitted they would collaborate in the FA’s investigation.

Mark Roberts from Cheshire Police is the national lead officer for football policing and has already spoken about the incident. Roberts stated that neither team is considered to have a troublesome fan base.

“When you have that sort of fixture, late on a weekend, in particular, alcohol is a factor,” Roberts said.

After the game in which Villa won 2-0, their captain Fabian Delph claimed he was bitten in the incident. Brom's manager Tony Pulis was mostly mad at what his fans did with the seats at Villa Park.

“Those supporters should never come into another football ground,” Pulis said. “It’s like coming into someone else’s house - you have to show respect.”
