Spurs were not involved in the Premier League last weekend owing to their commitments in the Capital One Cup Final but will face QPR on Saturday in an away fixture. Tottenham have fared poorly in recent games and have managed victory in just one of their last five matches in all competitions which came against Swansea last time out.

Tottenham struck thrice through Chadli, Mason and Townsend but the visitors fought back valiantly and Sigurdsson's late goal made the score 3-2 which resulted in a nervy ending but Spurs managed to notch all three points.

Argentinean tactician Pochettino has made good use of his squad since taking the hot seat but under his tutelage some players who featured regularly for Tottenham in the past have now been made to wait on the sidelines. This includes the trio of  Kaboul, Adebayor and Capoue, with neither of them succeeding in making it to the matchday squad in last eight matches in all competitions.

"Always for every game it's my decision, my choice," the Spurs head coach said.

"I think that you understand. In the end, all of our squad is fully fit and you need to pick players. I am happy with all, but if we have 26 or 27 players in the squad then more than 18 is impossible."

Despite their busy run of fixtures the trio is unlikely to feature in Tottenham's subsequent match against QPR. The match against the Hoops will be Tottenham's sixth in a 17 day period and a win will be vital for them to enhance their top four hopes.

However Pochettino has insisted that victory will not come easy in the London derby and he expects a tough test for his side.

"We are expecting a very tough game," Pochettino said. "QPR is a strong team and we play in their home.

"It will be a very difficult game. It's a local derby, a London derby. I think the three points will be important for them and for us, too."

Charlie Austin scored his 15th goal of the season against Arsenal last time out and Pochettino has stressed the importance of keeping him as well as Bobby Zamora quiet.

"Charlie Austin is a very good player," Pochettino added. "This season he has scored a lot of goals. He is a very good player and we need to focus on him but on [Bobby] Zamora and other players, too."

QPR have a number of players unavailable for the game including Joey Barton (suspension) Richard Dunne, Leroy Fer and Alejandro Faurlin (all knee). Adel Taraabt (groin) is a doubt for the match whereas defender Nedum Onouha suffered a facial injury against Arsenal last time out and it remains to be seen whether he will feature.
