Both Athletic and Barcelona have expressed interest in playing at Real Madrid's field. In 2009 both teams played at Mestalla and Barcelona won.

Now that Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao have clinched their ticket to the Copa del Rey Final, there is one thing left uncertain. Where will it be played? Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu is actually an option for this game.

Barcelona has made it clear that it does not want the game to be hosted at the Camp Nou. Athletic is also reluctant to have the game played at San Mamés. It is actually a tradition of this tournament for the game to be played on a neutral field.

The last time these two teams met in the Copa del Rey final, Mestalla was the venue hosting the match. Villareal’s home turf is another option for this game. Atletico Madrid’s Calderon is out of the discussion because of an AC/DC concert taking place the same day in which the game is scheduled (May 30).

Both teams want the game to be played in Barcelona’s arch-rivals home field. The Santiago Bernabeu, with a seating capacity of 75,000 is the clear favorite by both teams involved.

If neither the Bernabeu nor Mestalla are chosen for this game, there are only two other options for this game. Either La Cartuja or Montjuic. These stadiums comply with the Spanish Football Federation’s (SFF) only prerequisite, a seating capacity of 50,000 or more.

In 2009, Barcelona played Athletic at Mestalla and Los Cules won Barcelona beat Athletic 4-1 at Mestalla in 2009

Just last year, Real Madrid hoisted the trophy as champions of this competition at Mestalla. The last time Barcelona and Athletic met in the final, Los Cules won 4-1. Next week, the SFF should decide where the 2015 Copa del Rey champion will be crowned.
