The UEFA Champions League Round of 16 and UEFA Europa League Round of 32 continued on FOX Sports 1 last week, leading to viewership records on both Tuesday (2/24) and Thursday (2/26).

Tuesday’s first leg match featuring Barcelona and Manchester City attracted 779,000 viewers, setting a new record for a UEFA Champions League match on FOX Sports 1, according to Nielsen. It is the biggest audience for a UEFA Champions League match on cable since the 2009 UEFA Champions League Final on ESPN (Barcelona-Manchester United, 1.4 million), and the largest on any FOX channel since the 2014 Champions League Final on FOX broadcast network (Real Madrid-Atletico Madrid, 1.9 million).

On the digital front, it became the most-viewed UEFA match ever on FOX Sports GO, up +85% from the previous high, and with 3.1 million unique people reached through Twitter posts it was the third most-social sports event of the day.

FOX Deportes’ coverage of the Manchester City vs. Barcelona was the No. 1 Spanish-language sports program for the day with 425,000 total viewers. It was also the highest rated UEFA Champions League match of the 2014-15 season on either FOX Deportes or ESPN Deportes.

On Wednesday, Monaco’s 3-1 win over Arsenal in a UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match scored 322,000 viewers on FOX Sports 1, a +87% increase over the Galatasaray-Chelsea tilt on the same match day last year (172,000). The gain in the Adults 18-49 demographic more than doubled last year’s performance (197,000 vs. 91,000).

The second match of the day, featuring Tim Howard’s Everton defeating Swiss side BSC Young Boys 3-1 was joined-in-progress and averaged 128,000 viewers and 70,000 Adults 18-49, making it the third most-viewed Europa League match on the network, and second most-watched among Adults 18-49.
