After last Sunday's violent incidents between radical fans, the Greek Ministry of Sports decided to cancel all upcoming matches for an indefinite period of time.

After several fans stormed into the pitch during the Greek classic between Panathinaikos and Olympiakos, Greece's Ministry of Sports decided to cancel any Superleague matches for an indefinite period of time.

Sports Minister Stravos Kondonis came to this resolution after Panathinaikos fans entered the pitch following a goal scored by their opponents. Seconds later, flares were thrown into the pitch, forcing all players to go into their locker rooms before something else happened. The Minister's resolution intends to execute a variety of safety measures in order to prevent any more incidents of this kind.

Kondonis had already stated he would be taking measures to end violent incidents surrounding football matches. In order to end these situations, the Minister proposed an electronic ticket, where the buyer can be identified before and after a game. Furthermore, Kondonis wants all radical fans to be banned for life by all teams, taking into consideration they have created a non-healthy environment for families.

Apparently, the Greek league would be willing to suspend all matches for three weeks, expecting that during this hiatus, most of the anti-violence measures proposed by the government can be applied.
