The first leg of the round of 32 Europa league tie bewteen Inter Milan and Celtic was nothing short of entertaining for fans and neutrals alike. Six goals were split between the two sides, setting up an intriguing part two when the Scottish giants visit the Giuseppe Meazza, but it will be Ronny Delia's men who have a slight disadvantage after conceding three away goals.
In fact, should the score-line remain the same after 90 minutes, the Nerazzurri, like their Italian counterparts Fiorentina who also drew their first away leg are through. However, given the attacking potential of their opponents, that will be easier said than done. Statistically the odds do not look to be in the visitors' favour. Although Inter have not beaten the Hoops in regulation time, with three draws and one win, out of their five home games against Scottish opponents, they have won four and drawn one. Additionally, they have outscored their opponents by 11 to 1.
Celtic have not only been unable to keep a clean sheet against Italian opposition but also are winless in their last eight games, with three draws, five losses, and have scored just four goals, something that coach Ronny Delia will hope will increase if they want to book their spot in the round of 16. Yet, it will not be easy. Inter not only topped their group with 12 points but also did so sans losing a single match (three wins, three draws) and will be certainly keen on maintaining that in front of their home fans.
With this game poised on a knife's edge, it looks set to be another intriguing clash that one will certainly not want to miss.
