Branislav Ivanovic has been in a goal-scoring mood as of late, but fans will be surprised regarding this interesting stat.

Branislav Ivanovic is simply a man on fire at the moment, but not for the reason many might expect.

The Serbian defender has netted four goals in his last six games in all competitions and, like what one woudl anticipate an attacker to do, has scored some vital goals for Chelsea.

Yesterday saw him net against Burnley in which unfortuantely ended up as a shock draw for the Blues at home. But more important was his goal against PSG in the Champions League--a vital away one indeed in the French capital--to give Jose Mourinho's men a slight advantage for the second leg in London in a few weeks.

It was again the 30-year-old who found the back of the net against Aston Villa, after they had canceled out Eden Hazard's opener to seal all three points a bit over two weeks ago. So far, Ivanovic has netted six times in all competitions. This puts him tied with Didier Drogba at fourth on his team's goal-scoring list, and just one behind midfielder Oscar, who has seven.

For a defender, that is pretty impressive. But even more so is this shocking stat: He currently has 19 goals in the Premier League since joining the London giants in 2008. That is just one less than Fernando Torres, who netted 20 times during his spell at Stamford Bridge after being signed in 2011.

Great for Ivanovic indeed...but not so good for the former Blues striker.

£50 million man Torres never lived up to his hefty price tag at Stamford Bridge, and will soon be overtaken by defender Ivanovic, who cost £9.5 million when signed from Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow
