He has been on trial for a month with Carrington. His 13-year-old brother is also on the Red Devils radar.

Manchester United seems to be following the footsteps of La Liga giant, Real Madrid as they signed Indy Boonen. The 16-year old kid from Belgium is Madrid’s version of Martin Odeegard for the Red Devils.

For the next three years, Boonen will share the same locker room with Wayne Rooney, Angel di Maria and his compatriot Adnan Januzaj. The wonder-kid can play either in the midfield or as a left-back.

After being on trial at Carrington for the past month, he is finally allowed to sign a professional contract as he has turned 16. He has endured the trials and got the best possible result out of it.

“The training sessions are hard, but I don’t feel the tiredness when I realize I have signed for Manchester United,” Boonen told HLN.

Indy will join fellow Belgians Adnan Januzaj and Marouane Fellaini at Man UnitedJanuzaj and Fellaini are other Belgians at Manchester United

More than a publicity stunt by the Red Devils, the kid could find himself playing rather soon under Louis van Gaal's instructions. Youngsters like Tyler Blackett, Paddy McNair and James Wilson are constantly in the Dutch manager's plans.

Boonen is not the only player in the family with soccer skills. His 13-year-old brother is also closely monitored by United. His father Jacky, was a professional footballer for Lierse, Beveren and Lokoren in the 1990’s.

Finding himself in United is a really big deal for the highly-rated kid. It is the same club that his biggest idol, Cristiano Ronaldo, played for and where he started to develop into the footballer he is today.

Some fans doubt the boy is 16. Do you?
