Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, James Rodriguez, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi appear in the ad. They believe abuse can work as motivation.

Football players live a life many of us would like to live. Playing the sport they love and getting paid millions to do so, sounds like a good deal. But in a job where millions are watching, haters will exist but they must not prevail.

There is sometimes so much to envy about the lifestyle of a soccer player

In a new commercial campaign launched by ADIDAS, stars from Real Madrid and Barcelona address an issue they are used to living with every day. As much as they would like everyone to love them, they know that is quite impossible.

James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi let the world know how they manage abuse. They get it from all over they place (fans at a stadium, streets, media, social media), but they prefer to focus on their game. That is their best weapon to prove them wrong. Here is what they had to say.

“You focus on what you have to do, on playing, on doing things properly,” Messi said.

“I'm focused on what I have to do. I am only concentrating on the game. They are always going to talk, no matter what,” Rodriguez added.

“'You hear some of the things being said but you are purely concentrated on the game and focused on doing what you are doing,” Bale said.

“Sometimes they add a little motivation that encourages you to show them that you’re not bothered about it,” Suarez explained.

These players are closely monitored on every single step they take. They all agree that playing their best football is their best weapon against haters and their constant abuse.

ADIDAS used this issue to promote a new range of soccer cleats. It is with those boots that the players will use to shut down their enemies.
