The Reds recorded an emphatic win over Tottenham last time out which enhanced their chances of finishing in the top four this season.

Tottenham came from behind twice as goals from Lazar Markovic and Steven Gerrard were cancelled out by strikes in either halves from Harry Kane and Moussa Dembele. But it was Mario Balotelli's debut goal for the club which proved to be the winner and won the home side all three points.

England international Adam Lallana expressed his delight with the win and claimed that his side will be aiming to finish third in the league table by the end of the season.

"That's a massive three points for us," Lallana said. "We're only one point behind Tottenham now and we have got everything to play for.

"We can go higher than fourth; we can hit third place. We've got Daniel Sturridge back now and it was great for him to get through 70 minutes."

The 26 year old also had words of praise for all of Liverpool's summer signings who he believes after a slow start have hit the ground running.

"I'm pleased for Mario and that goal will be great for him. He needs to keep working hard. If he does that and keeps putting the effort in then the goals will come."

"You look at the likes of Lazar and Emre and you see that a lot of the new players are settling in well and we're seeing that out on the field.

"People were questioning the new signings at the beginning of the season but not for one minute was I questioning them. It was always going to take a little bit of time as they're young players. Now they've settled in, we're starting to see the rewards."

Crystal Palace on the other hand have performed admirably under new manager Alan Pardew and will be hoping to keep their good run going. The former Newcastle boss has twice gone close to winning the prestigious title, once as a player and the other time as a manager and will be hoping he can inspire the Eagles further into the competition.

Captain Steven Gerrard  suffered a hamstring injury in the match against Tottenham and will be unable to face Crystal Palace, Emre Can is expected to be reverted to his role in the midfield for the match. Raheem Sterling who missed the game against Spurs is doubtful for the match which means that Mario Balotelli might be in for a role in the starting eleven.

Palace on the other hand will have to do without Mile Jedinak whereas defender Scott Dann is also a doubt for the match.
