Aguero had not scored since December 3, 2014. It was Manchester's first win visiting Stoke since 1999.

Sergio Aguero finally found the back of the net on Wednesday against Stoke City at the Britannia. Two of his goals, plus two others from James Milner and Samir Nasri gave the Citizens a 4-1 victory away from home.

The Argentinian had not scored since December 3rd of last year. The bad news is that there is a slight chance he might not be ready for Man City's next game against Newcastle on February 21.

It was a much-needed win for Manuel Pellegrini’s team since Chelsea did their part by beating Everton 1-0. Manchester City had only won once this year, and had not come out victorious from Stoke grounds since 1999.

“We returned to our normal performance, especially in the second half. We scored three goals in the second half and had more chances,” Pellegrini said after the game.

El Kun had a chance to make it a hat-trick, but the goal was disallowed due to a handball. Pellegrini agreed with the call but regretted the lost opportunity.

After Aguero had scored his second goal from the spot, something did not feel right in the back of the 26-year-old striker. It wasn't long until he was substituted.

Aguero's big night could come at a high price

“He felt something in his back tonight, but my feeling is that it’s not something too serious," said the manager of the defending Premier League champions.

Pellegrini added that it was important for the team to have Aguero ready to go for their next game and if possible for much more time after that. In the first half of the season, Aguero had scored 19 goals in 21 games with the Citizens. With his national team, he has 22 goals in 60 games.

Man City fans were waiting for Aguero's return for a long time since he injured his knee in December. The striker wrote a message to those faithful fans who might have been alarmed after seeing him walk away from the pitch.
