It seemed like Liverpool fans were never going to witness something like this, but today's match proved to be a historic date for the Reds, having the Italian striker scoring his first Premier League goal for Brendan Rodgers' squad.

Following his 16 million euro transfer back in August, Balotelli had been a flop for the Reds all season, but today he managed to score the game-winning goal for Liverpool, keeping their European football hopes for next season still alive. 

Rodgers' team went ahead thanks to Lazar Markovic's goal after 15 minutes, but the Reds were not able to hold their lead, giving goalscoring sensation Harry Kane the chance to add one more goal to his tally. After the break, captain Steven Gerrard put Liverpool back in the lead, which they would lose yet again when Moussa Dembele equalized eight minutes later. Balotelli's goal helped Liverpool reach 42 points, sleeping one point behind today's rivals, while trailing Manchester United by just two points.
