Ahead of Ghana's quarter final game against Guinea, Cameroon's Ghanaian assistant coach Ibrahim Toure expressed his joy at the fact it was Guinea and not Mali the Black Stars had to face.

After the widely criticised CAF drawing lots rule pitted Guinea against Ghana in the quarter finals of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon's assistant coach Ibrahim Toure, who had also expressed his hope that he could one day take up the reigns of the Ghana national soccer team job, expressed his relief that it was Guinea and not Mali that the Stars had to face.

Toure was aware of the Malians more physical and forceful style of play, preferring his mother country to have to counter Guinea's more flowing play rather than the The Eagles, who he likened to Senegal.

"I personally want Ghana to face Guinea due to their style of play,” Toure told Kessben FM.

“They [Guinea] play normal football and I think their style will favour Ghana. Mali are just like Senegal, they never give up."

“I think Ghana stands a better chance if they face Guinea in the quarter finals."

“But then if it happens Ghana meets Mali, they have to be prepared to face and beat them."

“This is the knockout round and I am very confident that if the team keeps improving as they have done so far, it will be difficult to beat us.”

It remained to be seen if Guinea was indeed the more favourable opponent for Asamoah Gyan and co. to face as Ghana prepared themselves to take on Syli nationale on 1st Feb.
