In a moment of madness, the French defender wrapped his fingers around the Lazio captain's neck, got red carded, and then went in for round two. Watch the incident.

It's a simple yet priceless advice from coaches to their players. No matter what happens, DO NOT loose your cool.

No manager in football could stress this point any clearer. Going ballistic on the pitch in modern day football could easily lead to a sending off, even a lengthy ban, and playing with 10 men is a difficult handicap to overcome for even the biggest of teams.

So, for example, strangling an opposing player is obviously one of the worst thing any manager could witness from his own players.

Unfortunately for AC Milan boss Filippo Inzaghi, he underwent this nightmare in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Lazio.

The Rossoneri, currently seventh in the league, traveled to the Stadio Olimpico to lock horns with the Biancocelesti, as they continue in their attempt to climb the Serie A table and move closer to a Europa League spot.

Despite taking the lead in the 4th minute thanks to a well-taken Jeremy Menez opener, AC Milan found themselves trailing 2-1 after 51 minutes. Nine minutes from time, Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo made it three to seal all three points for the home side.

The game then erupted in chaos in the dying minutes.

In a moment of madness, French defender Philippe Mexes decided on physically attacking Stefano Mauri, wrapping his fingers around the Lazio captain's neck and strangling the 35-year-old veteran during stoppage time. Watch the incident in the VINE below.

And that was not the end of it. After being shown a straight red by the referee, Mexes returned back to Mauri and this time put the Italian midfielder in a headlock, before players of both side stepped in to defuse the situation and escort the AC Milan center-back down the tunnel. He could now be facing a lengthy ban.

This is how Filippo Inzaghi reacted to Mexes' red card

As usual. Twitter had a lot to say about the incident

It wasn't like he was performing well in the game, anyways.

However, what erupted this rage from Mexes, and why was directed towards Mauri in particular? Maybe it was because of this kick by the Lazio skipper on the Frenchman.
