Several combinations are available for the four teams to qualify for the next round. Right now Senegal lead the pack with 4 points.

Asamoah Gyan came back to be the hero for Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations. The Al Ain striker missed the Black Stars’ first match against Senegal with a bout of malaria, but managed to play the full match against Algeria, scoring the game winning goal in the last seconds of stoppage time.

"Asamoah is a great player with a fantastic attitude. He was ill but he played the 90 minutes and scored at the end. He is a great player but also a great personality. But it's not just the victory of one player. It's the victory of a whole team," said Ghana’s coach, Avram Grant. "Nothing is decided in the group. We conceded a goal in the last minute against Senegal, so we deserved to get a last minute goal ourselves,” the manager added.

With this result, the clash between Senegal and South Africa became more important to determine which sides will be going through to the next round. Senegal denied the Bafana Bafana their first three points in the tournament with an equalizer by Kara Mbodji, setting Alain Giresse’s side on the top of Group C.

Now, the French coach’s side needs to draw their next match and they will earn a spot in the second round, while the South Africans will have to win their match against Ghana and wait for their opponents today to take three points from the Algerians.
