Despite their disappointing season, Manchester United still managed to do quite well in Europe's football rankings.

Last season might have been one of the worst fans have seen in recent times, but Manchester United still managed to win at something.

The Red Devils saw their revenues jump from about £363 million (or €432.8 million) to about £433 million  meaning that they saw themselves move up two places in the Deloitte Football Money League rankings, from fourth to second, displaying Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the process.

In fact, despite not featuring in Europe this year, Manchester United are nonetheless the highest-placed English side. The next Premier League team are reigning champions Manchester City, who came in sixth place with about £346 million (or €414.4 million).

Meanwhile, their cross-town rivals Manchester City remained in 6th, the same spot as they were last year

In fact, the Premier League did quite well this year, with five of England's biggest clubs all finishing in the top 10. This season's league leaders Chelsea, were in 7th place with £324.4 million/€387.9 million in earnings.

They were closely followed by their London rivals Arsenal, in 8th place having earned £300.5 million/€359.3 million.

Last season's runners up Liverpool were just one spot further down made £255.8 million/€305.9 million.

Tottenham were in 13th place, with a profit of £180.5 million/€215.8 million.

Premier League sides make up nearly half of the top 30 sides in Europe

In the La Liga, Real Madrid kept their top spot in this list after making £459.5 million/€549.5 million over the course of last season which happens to be the 10th year in a row for the reigning Champions League winners.

Meanwhile, Barcelona slipped into fourth with £405.2 million/€484.6 million, and La Liga champions Atletico Madrid were in 15th place with £142.1 million/€169.9 million.
