The current Liga MX champions lost their first game against Tijuana, sparking criticism for their relentless attacking style.

Having already lost their first game in the Clausura 2015 tournament, Club America's coach Gustavo Matosas wants his team not to be afraid of attacking their opponents, despite that they have not shown strong defensive skills in their two matches. Matosas wants to please fans with such tactics, stating he will always play the same way, even if they don't reach the desired results.

"As long as I'm here, my goal will be that of scoring one more goal than the opponent. I am aware that such tactics will have the risk of leaving the defence unprotected, but it's a risk I'm willing to live with. If I was a fan, I would be happy if my team was always looking for ways to score, I want to enjoy what I'm doing and I will play this way until it's time for me to leave," Matosas said.

The Uruguayan coach doesn't want to be compared to his predecessor, Antonio Mohamed, who lifted the 12th trophy for Las Aguilas in the recently concluded Apertura 2014 tournament, and asked those who criticize his team to give him some time to work with his new players.

"Tony (Mohamed) did a fantastic job and he won the championship, but coaching changes always take some time to be digested. It's not easy to change your playing style overnight, but I'm sure the team is on the right track. We need more time to work, so the players can get familiar with some concepts , and I believe we will keep improving," the coach added.

Matosas and Mohamed, when the latter coached Club America.

Matosas disregarded any problems with defender Pablo Aguilar, who stated earlier this week he meant to talk to him about not leaving the back unprotected.

"He came to me and we talked about something that was published, and he wanted to clarify he did not mean what you guys printed. As the team's leader, I will always trust my players and I believe in what they say to me, I did not feel he was out of line," Matosas ended.
