Ivory Coast followed up their under-par AFCON 2015 qualification showing with another disappointing display against Guinea. As if allowing the Guineans to go ahead was not enough, Ivory Coast and Roma forward Gervinho lashed out at Guinea's Keita with a punch after what seemed like a non-malicious coming together between the two.

Gervinho was promptly red carded for the silly behaviour but what was even more shocking was his reaction following the referee's decision. It was like the Ivorian could not believe he had been sent off... like he thought that such an action would not attract any punitive action from the referee.

It remains to be seen if his horrendous error will attract more punitive action from the CAF. Either way, it was really amateurish behaviour from a player of his calibre and at a game of this importance.
