Josep Maria Bartomeu revealed in an interview that FIFA's President wants to meet with Barca's officers so they can tackle the issue 'before it's too late'.

Barcelona's President Josep Maria Bartomeu blasted FIFA's approach on La Masia's situation, and demanded Joseph Blatter to take matters into his own hands. The Blaugrana executive believes the sanction is "excessive and unfair" to the club, assuring they will fight to have the ban removed shortly.

"FIFA are getting nervous and not because I didn't go to the Ballon d'Or gala, but because of the involvement of the LFP. Blatter wants to meet with Barça. He's the one who has to offer solutions to a problem that they created," Bartomeu stated. "The ball is in Blatter's court and he knows what he has to do to fix the problem: reduce the sanction. If not, there's no problem, we'll comply with it," he added.

Bartomeu tried to defend La Masia's function in modern times, stating that some talents could have been lost if FIFA's tactics were used before against them, and urged football's governing body to change their policy so they don't create a bigger problem.

"Applying the current FIFA rules, Messi wouldn't be what he is today: the best in the world. Maybe FIFA are looking to bring about a Barça case like they did back in the day with the Bosman case," the exec stated.

Regarding the upcoming elections, Bartomeu refused to reveal who will become Barcelona's Sports VP after Andoni Zubizarreta's sacking, adding that the voting will not be held on gameday as long as the team has a chance to win any titles this year.
