The Ivory Coast striker will join his new club once his participation with his National Team ends in the African Cup of Nations.

Premier League Champions Manchester City revealed Wilfried Bony will be joining them once his commitment with Ivory Coast's National Team is over. Through their Twitter feed, the club revealed Bony has penned a 4.5 year deal with the Sky Blues.

Coach Manuel Pellegrini seemed delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Ivory Coast striker, who scored 34 goals in 70 matches for his former club, Swansea City.

"He will be a wonderful signing for us. We have four top-quality strikers, and I have been looking forward to work with him for a long time," the Chilean said.

The player revealed he spoke with Yaya Toure ahead of his signing with the Citizens, and hopes the presence of his friend will help him in this new adventure.

“I speak with Yaya every day on international duty and I think he will help me to become a better player and a more clinical striker. I’ll be playing with great players here at City and this is an opportunity for me to work hard and to take my chance,” Bony told the club's website.

Finally, Bony talked about what this move represents for his career.

“As a player it’s always good to be part of one of the biggest clubs in the world and it’s a good opportunity for me to be in that situation now.I felt excited to wait for this moment and now it’s come, it’s fantastic," the striker added.
