The Portuguese striker denied being mad with Bale for not passing the ball against Espanyol, stating the Welsh wingman is key to Madrid's success

After being handed his second Ballon D'Or in a row, Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo clarified his relationship with Gareth Bale is top notch, disregarding any problems between them after the Welshman did not assist him in a counter attack during last Saturday's match against Espanyol. Ronaldo seemed unhappy and the crowd started to whistle everytime Bale touched the ball. CR7 expects fans will respect Bale's actions on the pitch, since he is an important element for Los Blancos' success.

"Madrid fans are always the same, they are very intense, they show what they feel, they are not liars, but I think that things with 'Gaz' will be normal because they know that he is a very, very important for us, he is a key player, and what's happened on Saturday it's the past," Ronaldo said.

Real Madrid's Number 7 continued defending his team-mate, stating everyone in the team is subject to making mistakes, and there is no reason why people should treat Bale differently.

"Sometimes I have committed mistakes too, so it's part of the business, it's part of football so I think people will be nice to him and should be nice to him," the striker added.
