Even after a dubious start, Jose Mourinho's Chelsea overcame all adversity and claimed the first place in the Premier League all to themselves after defeating Newcastle 2-0. Following the Portuguese coach's sanction this week, the Blues were trying to make a good impression at Stamford Bridge, and they managed to pull it off against a tough Newcastle team.
Newcastle dominated the first half with eight shots on Petr Cech's goal, but were not able to score. Fans were getting restless and started putting pressure on their players, who did not seem as connected as earlier this season. When the game was nearing the break, Oscar took advantage of a distraction by the Magpies' defense to score after a corner kick. When the game resumed, Diego Costa finished off a beautifully crafted play to make it 2-0, establishing Chelsea's dominance and earning themselves a little payback afteer being defeated by the Black and white crew earlier this year.
Mourinho's men have played ten matches this year at their home turf, earning nothing but victories, scoring 24 goals and barely conceding three. This was their eighth clean sheet at Stamford Bridge, giving them the equilibrium needed to remain at the top of the English tournament.

Mourinho in silent protest, refusing to speak to the press. Rightly so, anything he says and the @FA will be looking to charge him.
