In the heat of the sun, the clash between this summer’s transfer window issues and the start of the English Premier League season is creating a bit of confusion as English teams all aim to gather concentration and kick off their campaign on a positive note.

Wigan Athletic's Charles N'ZogbiaNow Wigan Athletic will have to deal with Charles N’Zogbia’s transfer request ahead of the club’s opening English Premier League match against promoted side Blackpool. Fresh reports from Sky Sports News indicated that the midfielder is to hand in his request on Thursday; that is, one day after the player received his first international cap for France in a friendly match against Norway.

Charles N’Zogbia’s style of play characterized by aggression and explosive runs down the flanks attracted Manchester United’s Sir Alex Ferguson a couple of years ago while he was a Newcastle player. In the end, the French international of Congolese descent joined Wigan Athletic last year, and his injury time goal against Arsenal to seal his side’s 3-2 comeback will forever be remembered in the history of the club as it effectively saved the Latics from relegation.

Charles N’Zogbia has now set his mind away from the DW Stadium with Italy’s Juventus and England’s Birmingham City reportedly interesting in signing the player. In an interview with French magazine L’Equipe, the midfielder explained things, declaring:

“When I came here [at Wigan], I was in a situation where I wanted to launch myself in a new direction. Today, I am at Wigan. But, if a good club with great ambition contacts me tomorrow, then I will be open.

Charles N’Zogbia also revealed that the club will not put itself in the way of his desire to leave the Latics. The French midfielder, who joined Wigan Athletic in January 2009, may therefore not be included in their English Premier League opening match against Blackpool.
