League leaders Real Madrid will be hoping to extend their incredible 22 match win streak when they face Valencia in a tricky away tie. The reigning European champions have been in emphatic form this campaign and will be hoping to produce a better performance after being beaten by AC Milan in Abu Dhabi in a mid season friendly.
However as far as competitive football is concerned Los Blancos have been phenomenal. Madrid won the Club World Cup competition in December to round off a very successful 2014 which saw them win the Champions League and the Copa del Rey as well. Furthermore Ancelotti's men have also set a new record for consecutive wins and star player Sergio Ramos has insisted that the club can achieve more success this year.
"I hope the year is at least as good as last year, that would be a good sign, although we do not just want to sit back and relax and we will aim to surpass last year and - why not - aim for the treble," he told Madrid's official website.
"I would ask the fans to keep supporting us as they have done. We want them to keep placing their belief in us. We are going to give everything to have the best possible season and celebrate titles with them.
"I hope that injuries stay away in 2015 and that it is a good year for Sergio Ramos, that would help Madrid to have a good year too. I especially hope that we win titles; ultimately, that is what will be remembered."
Valencia on the other hand have been very impressive this season and are currently fourth in the league table, eight points behind Real Madrid. Los Che have been particularly impressive at home soil where they have won six of their eight La Liga encounter this season, with Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao the only teams to have avoided defeats at the Mestalla.
New signing Enzo Perez is expected to feature in the Valencia midfield after being signed from Benfica, with Javi Fuego's suspended for the game.
Real Madrid left back Marcelo has recovered from the thigh injury he suffered during Madrid's win over San Lorenzo and will be in contention for a place in the starting lineup, whereas James Rodriguez who missed Real Madrid's last league game against Almeria is also set to return for domestic duty.
