After spending three months on the sidelines with a serious knee injury, Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil reveals he is ready to make his comeback for the Gunners and aid their English Premier League and Champions League campaign.

Suffering a crack in his left knee during the north London side’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea back in September of last year, the former Real Madrid midfielder spoke with German tabloid Bild, expressing his eagerness to return to first-team action in order to help both club and country.

Ozil said: "I worked hard, with Klaus Eder in Donaustauf and with Arsenal, and I want to finally return to the field. Watching [Arsenal whilst being] injured have been very bitter for me.

"I really want to help my teams to catch up. Arsenal and the national team.

"In the Premier League anything can happen, a lot can also happen in the Champions League, and we [Germany] are still involved in the European Championship qualifiers, where we need to score."

The 26-year-old World Cup winner, who is expected to return on January 11 when the Emirates hosts Stoke City, will definitely lift up Arsenal’s spirits, especially after Thursday’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to Southampton, as Wenger’s crew aim to reinvigorate their push for a top-four finish.
