With the spotlight shining down on diving in the English Premier League, the Arsenal boss believes players should be given punishment after games for simulation.

With much debate going on in the English Premier League surrounding diving, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has aired his views on the topic, calling for the FA to hand out punishment after games to players for simulation.

Chelsea’s Diego Costa, Willian, and Garry Cahill have all come under criticism by the media for diving this season, with Arsenal’s very own Alexis Sanchez being accused of simulation by Brendan Rodgers, shedding light on what has become a custom in modern day football.

Further attention was garnered when Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas was booked for diving to win a spot kick when in fact the Blues playmaker was actually brought down in the penalty box during the 1-1 draw with Southampton, on December 26. This incident led to Mourinho claiming there to be a campaign against his west London side.

Le Prof, who also had a bad run in with diving when he labeled Bayern Munich man Arjen Roben a diver after their two sides met in the Champions League, does though admit it may prove difficult for some match officials to establish whether a dive is intentional or not.

"I am against diving and the only way players will stop doing it is if they can get punished," Wenger said. "We should punish [players] after the game.

"The problem will be to decide when it was obvious diving or not. That is a big issue and sometimes it is not obvious."
