The Spaniard will make his two-year loan deal at San Siro a permanent affair, exiting Stamford Bridge, but looks set for one more transfer.

Spanish striker Fernando Torres has finally called an end to what can only be described as a disappointing Chelsea career, as the 30-year-old forward, on loan at AC Milan, will sign a permanent contract with the Rossoneri in January, Chelsea revealed.

Torres, who joined the Blues back in 2010 from Liverpool for a then record British fee of £50m, arrived in west London as one of England’s most feared attackers, but failed to make an impact at the London side, managing to score only 45 goals over four seasons (172 appearances) before Jose Mourinho shipped him out last summer.

“Fernando Torres is to join AC Milan on a permanent basis,” Chelsea announced in a statement on their official website.

“The striker moved to the San Siro on a two-year loan deal in August and on January 5 he will complete a permanent transfer to the Serie A side.

“Chelsea Football Club thanks Fernando for his service during the past four seasons and wishes him the very best for the future.”

However, Torres looks set to make one more transfer when the January window swings open in a few days time. According to the latest report, despite having just signed him on a permanent contract, La Furia Roja ace is expected to move to La Liga to rejoin boyhood club Atletico Madrid.

Rumors claim the Serie A giants are willing to loan the World Cup and Euro Cup winner to Los Rojiblancos, a team, possibly the only club left in Europe, who hold high regards for Torres.

Torres has only managed one goal in Serie A for AC Milan so far, and could be used in a swap deal which would see Italian striker Alessio Cerci arrive at San Siro.
