Manchester City have won their last six on the trot; they currently sit in second in the Premier League. Having lost three of their last four, Burnley sit in nineteenth spot, in deep relegation trouble. Burnley's campaign is reminiscent of their previous Premier League campaign (2009-10). Promotion was immediately followed by relegation. Last season, Burnley finished second in the Championship; the Premiership is proving a bit too difficult for them to handle once again. For Manchester City, relegation battles as well as mid table mediocrity are things of the past. Title challenges, at least domestically, are all that matter.
For the home side, Matija Nastasic, the superb Sergio Aguero and the enigmatic Edin Dzeko are all out of action. Vincent Kompany and Jose Pozo are both rated doubtful for this one. City has compensated well for Aguero's absence. They have been helped by the performances of the excellent Frank Lampard. Matthew Taylor, Michael Duff and Stefan Ward are all doubtful for the away side.
When these two sides last met in the league four years ago, City put no less than six past Burnley. City put a combined total of six past their previous two opponents, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace. Burnley lost their previous two matches by the margin of a single goal. They lost to Liverpool, 0-1 and to Tottenham Hotspur, 2-1.
