The German goalkeeper stated that 2014 was the best of his career, but he believes Messi and Ronaldo have an advantage over him.

German shot-stopper Manuel Neuer does not consider himself as the favorite to win the Ballon D'Or nomination, despite several opinions that state a German player should win the prize given it was his National team that won the World Cup. Neuer praised Pep Guardiola for his role making him a better player, and applauded his fellow nominees, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

"One of the keys to my success was Pep Guardiola's tactics. He was an inspiration for me and made me work harder. Being nominated for this prize is already a victory for me, but I don't consider myself a favorite. The other two players have to be considered an international brand, so I think they have that slight advantage over me," the German stated.

Talking about Bayern Munich's current season, where they lead the Bundesliga with an eleven point advantage over second-placed Wolfsburg, Neuer stated the club's intention is to return to the UEFA Champions League final, and this time, winning it in a German venue.

"In 2012, we had the chance to win it all in our stadium and we did not come through. Maybe this time we will be able to win it playing in another German city. That's our objective this season, and of course, the longer we can stay undefeated in the local tournament, the better," Neuer added.

This year's World Cup champion ended the interview assuring he is not considering to retire from his National Team after the Euro 2016, since he wants to serve Die Mannschaft as long as possible.
