Thierry Henry may have decided to take a rest from pro football, but being a legend to Arsenal, he may prove to be a source of inspiration for 'his' team.

Maybe after retirement, Thierry Henry can help his beloved Arsenal give a brilliant performance against Liverpool. The French striker, praised by those who had the privilege of playing with him, retired today after a 20-year career in football, and perhaps one of his most remembered accomplishments happened with Arsenal, exactly ten years ago.

That was the year of Arsenal's Invincibles. Henry has been quoted as the source of inspiration that kept together that wonderful streak for the Gunners, and a key player to that streak, scoring 39 goals in those 49 unbeaten games and setting up 19 more for his comrades. The Frenchman became Arsenal's driving force during tough times, and his inspiration could very well be crucial on Sunday.

Perhaps the best example of a possible inspiration is Theo Walcott. Having inherited Henry's historic Number 14, the Englishman paid his respect to the French legend, and has even stated his worship to Henry. The up and coming midfielder, who recently came back from an injury, could be looking to tribute Henry against one of the teams the Frenchman tortured during that historic run.

But it's not necessary to have played with Henry to present your respects when you know where you are standing. Welshman Aaron Ramsey also has acknowledged the Frenchman's career, stating he is a cornerstone to Arsenal's history. Perhaps one of the Gunners' best players this season, Ramsey also used his twitter feed to praise the 1998 World Cup winner with France.

And for the newcomers, Henry could prove to be quite the motivator. Defender Hector Bellerin, who in his younger years was a member of  Barcelona's La Masia, had the chance to watch Henry torture defenders both in the Premier League and La Liga. Bellerin recalled recently the time he had the opportunity to watch Henry playing at Emirates stadium

“He came back on loan and scored against Leeds in the cup. That night was an unbelievable night. I was at the Emirates and how the atmosphere was when he just came on the pitch and then when he scored, the whole stadium just went crazy. That for me is a moment that is going to be stuck in my head," Bellerin stated.

Going back to that undefeated run, one of the toughest moments for Arsenal came when they faced Liverpool. The Gunners were 2-1 down after 45 minutes, with Henry scoring for his team. Fans were nervous since the streak was coming to an end, but Henry showed every bit of his class to help Arsenal past the Reds in 45 minutes, completing a hat-trick and serving Robert Pires for the equalizing goal. That win almost secured Asenal's title and kept their perfect streak untouched.

So, maybe Thierry Henry will not be re-joining Arsenal (for now), but he could be quite the source of inspiration for his beloved team days after he decided to hang his boots.
