Although the young attacker has turned down an improved contract, this latest report will definitely catch Reds fans by surprise.

It's not been a good week for Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling.

First there were the reports that the young English international had rejected an improved contract that would have seen him making £70,000 per week. Not bad for someone that could not buy a drink (legally) in the United States and barely has become a licensed driver in most countries around the world.

Then was his poor showing against Manchester United, in which he missed an opportunity to get the Reds back into the game and not surprisingly, social media fanatics were quick to slam him on Twitter. And who can blame Liverpool fans from being upset watching their team go from Premier League title contenders last season to struggling just to stay in the top half of the table this term. Although he has been generally solid for Brendan Rodgers' side, fatigue appears to be taking its toll on the young star.

The 20-year-old has had a frustrating campaign so far at Anfield this season

Although the transfer window is still a few weeks away, while the summer one is not set to happen for several months, that has not prevented the rumor mill from churning. It is no secret that Bayern Munich are determined to bring Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus. After all, die Roten has a proven track record of signing their rivals' players. Just ask any Dortmund fan about Mario Gotze and most recently, Robert Lewandowski, and as such one would not blame them from eyeing the Reus-Bayern Munich rumors with a sense of apprehension.

Interestingly, new reports have Sterling linked with the aforementioned Bayern Munich should the Bundesliga powerhouse be unable to lure Reus to the Allianz Arena. While it may seem out of left field, it could represent an interesting prospect for the player, especially given Liverpool's struggles so far this season.

As per German publication Bild:

As his contract negotiations continue, and the Bundesliga winners try to beat the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and even Sterling's own side Liverpool, it will be interesting to see if the German giants do opt to make a real push to bring in the young attacker.
