A brace from Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla, including that awesome 89th minute "panenka" penalty, saw the Gunners return to winning ways in fashionable style.

With last weekend's disappointing 3-2 loss away to Stoke City still fresh on Arsenal's mind, and the “Wenger Out” banners and slogans in full sight for the club's manager, the Gunners welcomed Newcastle to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Despite the eerie, nerve-racking atmosphere from the home crowd, the north London side came out of the encounter which many thought would prove tough for Wenger's men with an emphatic 4-1 win, which sees Arsenal move level with fifth-placed Southampton on 26 points.

French striker Olivier Giroud, who has found scoring past the Magpies rather easy (see below), netted the first goal of the night with a towering header in the 15th minute to give the Gunners an early lead.

After a Danny Welbeck goal was overruled by match referee Lee Mason in the first-half, the FA Cup champions doubled their lead in the 54th minute through a sublime Santi Cazorla goal, before Giroud made it three four minutes later. Cazorla added the fourth from a spot kick with only a minute remaining on the clock.

HILARIOUS: How Andrea Pirlo reacted to Cazorla's penalty

A vital victory, there were some eye-catching stats from the Emirates Stadium clash, three in particular.

1-) Arsenal can't stop scoring vs Newcastle at home

In their last three home encounters, Arsene Wenger's side have registered 14 goals against Alan Pardew's crew.

2-) Olivier Giroud: Every Magpies goalkeeper's worst nightmare

Only having recently returned from a foot injury, Olivier Giroud netted a brace past Newcastle custodian Jak Alnwick, meaning the 28-year-old forward has scored six goals in five appearances against the St. James' Park side.

3-) Arsenal: A clinical team?

Sounds odd, doesn't it? Arsenal, a team known for their fluid and attractive style of attacking, have always found burying opportunities a tad difficult, something which has hurt them in the big games. On Saturday, however, they had four shots on target, and all four went in. Is this a sign of something new to come?
