The Reds were not able to win their last match against FC Basel, raising more doubts about Brendan Rodgers' future with the Merseyside team.

Liverpool's UEFA Champions League comeback ended rather abruptly for their fans. The Reds were unable to overcome Basel's early lead, and will have to watch the remainder of the tournament through their TV set.

Fabian Frei's goal after 25 minutes made things complicated for Liverpool, given they needed to win the match in order to make it to the Round of 16. Not being able to score during the first half, the Reds struggled to earn chances, and with Lazar Markovic's red card after one hour of playing time, a possible win seemed almost heroic for them to accomplish.

But as always, Steven Gerrard fought until the end scoring the goal that gave some hope to their fans. Unfortunately, time ran out and the Reds will have to play in the Europa League after the winter break. This is the second time in a row the Merseyside team fails to earn a spot in the Round of 16.

Have a look at what fans had to say about Liverpool's disappointing end to their UCL campaign.
