Ronaldo finally topped Raul's total of 71 Champions League goals today, but he did it with controversy.
Raphael Varane headed a corner kick past the goalkeeper, but Marcelinho committed a handball to keep the Frenchman from scoring. Gareth Bale took the loose ball and drilled it into Ludogorets' net, but the ref decided to call the foul. After awarding the penalty kick, the ref decided to correctly red card Marcelinho, but maybe he could have let Bale have his goal before he eventually headed the second one into Ludogorets' net. This was Ronaldo's fifth goal this season in the UEFA Champions League.
Controversy aroused in Twitter, since the Portuguese striker is usually flawless from the spot, but his naysayers criticize his ability.
Even goal scoring legend Gary Lineker ironically referred to CR7's luck with penalty kicks.
Ronaldo has scored a penalty. Ludogorets are down to 10 men. Watch out Messi!
