This will be the first match between the 2010 World Cup finalists to be held in Amsterdam since 2002, when the Oranje defeated La Roja 1-0.

The Dutch Football Association announced a friendly match against Spain to be held in March 2015. The game will be held at Amsterdam Arena, giving the Spanish team the chance to redeem themselves after the recent World Cup matchup between them, where The Netherlands destroyed La Roja 5-1.

This will be the third time the Spanish team visits the Dutch nation for an international game. Their first friendly match was held in 1973, when the host team had Johan Cruyff as one of the top players in the world. The host team took advantage of an own goal by goalkeeped Miguel Reina, and topped La Roja with a 3-2 score. The second time these teams met for a friendly was back in 2002, having the Oranje side winning once again 1-0.

But the most remembered matchup between the two teams has to be the 2010 World Cup final, which gave La Roja their only championship. With The Netherlands enjoying great chances saved by goalkeeper Iker Casillas, the game was decided in overtime with Andres Iniesta's right footed strike, and started world dominance for Spanish football until this year's tournament.
