Despite suffering his first defeat of the season, the Portuguese manager claims no side in the English Premier League has done better than the Blues.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has stated that despite their most recent loss, a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle, no other team are better than his side.

The Blues traveled to St. James' Park last Saturday, where they locked horns with Alan Pardew's crew, in search of all three points.

However, Chelsea ended up on the losing side, as a brace from Magpies attacker Papiss Cise put an end to the west London team's 23-match unbeaten run, with their shot at emulating Arsene Wenger's “The Invincibles” going down the drain.

Mourinho, who is still yet to win a single game on Newcastle's home ground, after blaming the ball boys for the weekend defeat, now claims “we are better than anybody else”.

“We are top of the league,’ the former Real Madrid coach said. “Nobody has done better than us. Everyone would like to be in our position. So we are more than fine. We are better than anybody else.”

Jose Mourinho men have only managed to pick up one point on the road in their last two away games, drawing 0-0 at Sunderland on November 19, but an even more worrying stat is that of talismanic striker Diego Costa.

The former Atletico Madrid man, who has registered 11 goals so far in his debut season in England, second in the goalscoring charts, has only found the back of the net once in the last four games after returning from a hamstring injury.

According to Mourinho, though, injury has taken its toll on the £32m summer signing, but the Chelsea boss remains adamant that the goals will eventually return once his physical condition improves.

“He has to improve his condition,’ Jose added. “He was injured, he had many doubts and he had a long time without training and that obviously must have an effect on a player – the way he runs, the way he moves, his coordination. He has to recover but I don't think there is any problem. For me, the problem is not the goals. The goals will come as a consequence of his condition.”
